Congratulations to Megan and Karen - the first recipients of Certificate IV in Kinesiology for KCHB

The Diploma class is already well on the way for 2010. We currently have 5 students studying at Diploma level. These students are already excellent kinesiologists and they are so excited to be continuing their learning this year. This weekend we celebrated Megan and Karen's graduation for Cert IV. Congratulations must go to both these wonderful women who have remained focused throughtout the year to achieve their goals. Certificate IV in Kinesiology

Certificate IV for 2010 has begun. you have one last chance to join in with this group

We are offering a catch up class on 25th and 26th March 2010 for the first workshop - BKP101. You can then join in with the weekend group on the 27th and 28th March. We were offering these classes to suit students wanting to come from further distances and travel less often. At this point we have had limited demand for these classes. If these classes are of interest to you, please contact us and let us know as this will help us make decisions about classes for 2011.

Interested students are encouraged to contact us at enrol@kchb.com.au

Students performing a balance 2009 was KCHB's first year of offering Cert IV in Kinesiology. It has been a great learning experience for students and staff alike. We have developed strong personal and professional links. The feedback from the students has been very positive as we progress. In 2010 these students will begin their Diploma in Kinesiology. For those who are focused on building their client base, they are now ready to set their prices and hand out their business cards. This means they will be earning as they continue to learn.

Not all the students have started Cert IV with the idea of being a practitioner. These students are seeing the benefits of using kinesiology with family and friends and have decided to become practitioners anyway! I was thrilled to hear one student sharing how her teenage son loved having treatments with her because he "liked the way it made him feel" and he can see that he's improved in Maths at school.

We are proud to say all our Cert IV students have decided to continue their studies with us next year. These students have had a real variety of experience with kinesiology. Some came to us with significant experience from other kinesiology workshops, some had never even experienced a treatment.
I believe their willingness to continue their studies with us is the real proof of their satisfaction with this course and the relevance of the course material.

Some student feedback:
"I love the practice side as I learn better. Thankyou for a fabulous learning weekend."
"Really enjoyed the surrogate part of the course material and how I learned so much and retained it."

Why Learn kinesiology?

Do you want to make a difference? Want a new career? Want better health or relationships? Want to broaden the modalities you already offer your clients?

Learning kinesiology can offer you all these things and more. The increasing demand for effective health practitioners in our communities creates the opportunity for you to create a career for yourself, setting your own work hours and pay rate.

Students of Kinesiology College Hervey Bay will graduate with the Certificate IV in Kinesiology, confident in their ability to make a positive, long lasting difference in the lives of their clients using safe, non-invasive kinesiology techniques.

As a kinesiologist you have the ability to work in the area of life that most interests you. This means you can use your new found knowledge to start a career that is specifically tailored to your passions and interests. Learning kinesiology with Kinesiology College Hervey Bay gives you the strong foundations you need to build the kind of customer base you want. People from all walks of life benefit from kinesiology. It heals pain, improves attitudes and behaviours, identifies allergies and helps people create change.

You could, for example build up a client base with a strong emphasis on healing sporting injuries or skill enhancement. Or you could focus on helping children with learning or behavioural difficulties. You could focus on women's health, men's health, care for the ageing (and how to keep them feeling young!). My personal focus is on emotional health and helping people to create the life they dream of having.

Learn Kinesiology in Hervey Bay

Having built up a successful and growing client base over the last two and a half years with Breathe Easy Therapies, Susan Koschel-Gatenby has now launched Kinesiology College Hervey Bay. The weekend format of the course gives people from the regional areas of Gympie, Maryborough, Childers and Bundaberg the opportunity to come to Hervey Bay for the weekend and enjoy learning in a relaxed and professional atmosphere. For those who need accommodation, Hervey Bay caters for the budget conscious right up to those who prefer Resort style living. This is a fantastic opportunity to study this professional course in regional Queensland, usually only available to students in the capital cities. The Thursday class runs from 9am to 3.30pm during school terms.

Susan initially trained in Melbourne under the watchful eye of Jenne Burns. “I actually started my kinesiology training with this Certificate IV course, so I know exactly what my students will need to achieve and I have personally dealt with the challenges that come from learning any new skill and then actually putting that skill into practice. The great thing about this course, is that as you learn these techniques, you gradually build your client base. Everyone knows that any business can boom or bust from word of mouth. This is a fantastic way to get people saying great things about you, with each step of your learning."

Your Teacher - what led Susan to kinesiology

Before I began working with kinesiology I had an interest in people. At 21 I was working in the textile industry as a wool dyer. My job was to colour match large batches of wool, yarn and fabrics. It was tricky science and I was often under a lot of pressure. I was paid a great wage and was good at my job. But I knew there was something more for me ... I used to say "Anyone can colour match... I'm good with people, I can help make a difference."

So began my searching for my niche in the world.

  • I worked with young people at church, and though youth leading and support was fun, that wasn't the right place for me.
  • I worked with a women's hostel, and though that was challenging and certainly made a difference, that wasn't me either.
  • I got married and began a family, and though that was (and still is) very fulfilling and wonderful, it still wasn't what I was searching for.
  • I applied to study psychology at University and was accepted into the course, but we moved our family to Melbourne and it was no longer practical.
  • I began to wonder about studying Homeopathy or Naturopathy, but wasn't ready to dive into a full-time course that would take years to complete.
  • I helped at Lifeline on their Crisis Phonelines and again though it was challenging and rewarding, counselling wasn't for me

  • ... and finally I began studying kinesiology. WOW !

It was like coming home. It was a place where I could use my passion for health and good food. I could use my enthusiasm and energy for life. I could use my empathy for the stories of others. I could use my common sense for creating change. I could use my innate wisdom and intuition to help, firstly myself, then my family and as my confidence grew, suddenly I was helping complete strangers.

Not every kinesiologist has or needs these particular gifts. Participating in the classes will help you identify your strengths, giving you the confidence to utilise these better in your life. It's a fantastic experience that I feel privileged to have shared with my class mates and I'm very excited to now be sharing it with others.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to become a student with Kinesiology College Hervey Bay. As a student of kinesiology you need a willingness and an openness for learning. The course content is not difficult and no special skills are needed. There is a significant amount of practical work that you need to complete. You will need to be prepared to work with others as partners and in small groups. What is easy for one person, can sometimes be difficult for another, so you will need to be patient and accepting in these cases. Finally you need to bring your sense of fun!

Haven't tried a Kinesiology Treatment Before?

It is highly recommended that you book a session with Susan to get a taste of the PKP style of kinesiology. This fantastic modality is strongly client - centred and encourages client responsibility. Rather than visiting a "guru" the protocol helps you to discover how you can make the changes necessary to experience a greater sense of health and well-being.
